‘The Origins of the Ryder Cup’. This painting was commissioned by Wentworth Golf Club to commemorate the matches between two scratch teams from the U.S.A and the British Isles in 1926, played at Wentworth. It is over 10ft wide. All twenty competitors are in the painting, together with Samuel Ryder, various friends of mine and my great grandfather (who was a fine golfer and lived nearby).
The painting was used for the opening montage of the 2005 ‘The History of the Ryder Cup’ (Rolex)
The Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews celebrated its 250th anniversary in 2004. Amongst other paintings, I was commissioned to depict the dinner to celebrate this milestone, with its array of cups and trophies together with past and present Captains.
29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery asked me to produce a painting depicting their deployment in Operation Telic 1 (Iraq 2003). When using photos I prefer to take them myself. Of course, that was out of the question with this commission. I designed the painting with given photos from an embedded photographer creating a montage of some of his best images.
